The idea was to be bold—captivatingly bold. The Black Arts Festival is an annual week of events held on the campus of Bucknell University, where the target audience of students could tend to be somewhat indifferent to anything divergent from the ordinary.

During the week of April 14-17, Bucknell University was a flood of culturally-diverse events aimed to present students with intellectual, entertaining, and perhaps even life-changing performances—highlighted by producer 9th Wonder, Teairra Mari, TheFiveOne, and RoeTheAgency.

Working together with the relentlessly motivated students of Bucknell’s Black Student Union, I produced the following series of posters and flyers. They aimed to be visually appealing and eye-catching advertisements that would stand out from the overwhelming hubbub of campus news. Both pulling from and manipulating photos of the featured talents, the posters were based primarily on the crisp contrast of bold, neon colors against stark, black backgrounds.

A special thanks goes out to Nadia Sasso, for diving headfirst into an Insanity Workout with me, when pre-festival planning was getting the better of our sanity and a change of pace was needed.
